Rated by Faculty and Residents as the most useful set of teaching tools used in the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Breastfeeding Curriculum. In use at top teaching hospitals across the US.

About the producer, Doctor Jane Morton
Dr. Morton brings in-depth training and a demand for clinical excellence to the “subspecialty” of breastfeeding medicine. She was the Director of the Breastfeeding Medicine Program at Stanford University, executive board member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section on Breastfeeding and Fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. Dr. Morton practices general pediatrics at Burgess Pediatrics in Menlo Park, California.

While there are many effective styles and approaches to teaching breastfeeding, the following tools serve as a start for the professional developing his/her own style:
    • 15 Minutes of Breastfeeding Help was designed to help professionals think of how to structure a patient session efficiently, given that time constraints are such a reality.
    • Early Hand Expression with Teaching Steps is a detailed example of how to teach a new mother hand expression. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this technique be taught to all new breastfeeding mothers.
    • Maximizing Milk Production with Hands-on Pumping Mothers who are separated from their babies make more milk when they do not rely only on the suction of a breast pump to express.  New research supports simple manual techniques, combined with pumping.
